Natural Curve - Shaper Hugh Thompson
Having started surfing in the longboard era, Hugh shaped his first board in a make-shift shaping room at the age of 15.
Today, with almost 17,000 boards to his credit, Hugh shapes all of Natural Curve’s boards personally, relying on his specialised team to turn them into the quality product they are.
An original member of the Natural Curve Surf Team in the early 70’s, Hugh has competed on both short and longboards over the years with 16 National titles and as many provincial titles behind him. Hugh has also represented South Africa at 3 World Longboard Championships and still competes in Longboard events today

For Des, it all began in the early 70s when the visionary behind the brand, embarked on a journey to become a master of handcrafting fine surfboards. With relentless dedication, Des honed his skills across a vast range of models, adapting to different eras and design changes.
In the realm of surfing, Stevie Sawyer stands as a true modern-day enigma. His multifaceted skills, unique life philosophy, and nomadic surf adventures from J-Bay to Malibu create an aura that captivates all who encounter him. In 2018, Steve won the World Longboard title on a Sawyer board.

Rebel Surfboards - Thys Strydom
Rebel Surfboards are of high quality shaped by respected local Thys Strydom.
In his career, Thys has shaped over 8000 surfboards in the past 15 years. Earning his reputation and honing his shaping skills shaping for international labels like Town & Country, Brewer, Vudu and Blue Hawaii. Thys was recently awarded the Quiksilver contract to shape Q-Stix surfboards for the local Quiksilver Boardriders Club Stores.

No factories, no assembly lines. Just us, in our local workshop in Jbay. Our process is deliberately slow because we believe in the beauty of handcrafted vs mass-produced. They take pride in delivering high-end fins that embody the spirit of JBay’s surf culture.
Every part of every fin is hand crafted and foiled by Cronjé. He prides himselves in taking the time to ensure that every fin that leaves the workshop is of the highest quality. Because….it’s not just a fin, it’s a feeling! Every request for a fin is guided by both Cronjé and Hannah. Cronjé for his years of surfing experience and knowledge of fins to find the correct size and shape that’ll compliment your surfboard and surfing style and Hannah for her creative input.
